Private ADHD Assessments For Adults

The Purpose of an ADHD Assessment

An ADHD assessment goes beyond simply confirming a diagnosis. It offers valuable insights into how ADHD specifically impacts your daily functioning as a young adult and identifies particular areas where targeted support can make a significant difference. Understanding your neurodevelopmental profile can unlock access to university accommodations, workplace adjustments, and effective strategies that substantially improve academic success, career prospects, and personal wellbeing.

Sensory processing is a key focus in our evaluations, conducted by certified sensory integration practitioners. This helps identify sensory preferences and challenges, with tailored strategies provided to enhance campus life, workplace comfort, and social interactions.

For young adults, an assessment can bring tremendous validation and clarity, offering explanations for past academic or social struggles and empowering you to advocate for yourself in educational and professional settings.

Our ADHD assessments are designed to address the unique challenges facing adults of all ages, providing professional insights with respect, empathy, and care.

What to Expect During an ADHD Assessment

The ADHD assessment process at Bloom Clinical begins with a detailed consultation to understand your concerns and gather a comprehensive developmental history.

For young adults, we focus on self-reported experiences alongside academic history and, where appropriate, insights from family members or partners to build a complete picture.

Our assessments utilise evidence-based tools and techniques to ensure a reliable and thorough diagnosis. The process typically includes:

  • Developmental and Academic History: Exploring patterns of attention, focus, and behaviour from childhood through university or early employment.
  • Clinical Observations: Assessing attention, impulse control, executive functioning, and task management in structured settings.
  • Input From Additional Sources: Gathering insights from lecturers, employers, or family members to provide a complete picture of functioning across different environments.
  • Standardised Testing: Using validated tools to evaluate ADHD symptoms and their impact on academic performance, work capabilities, and social interactions.

Our multidisciplinary team combines clinical expertise with a warm and approachable manner. We understand that seeking an assessment during this pivotal life stage can feel overwhelming, and our goal is to make the experience as comfortable and empowering as possible.

More Information

1. Screening Information

The first step of our assessment process is to complete some screening information so that we can find out more about you and determine together if an assessment is the right next step. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask more about our assessments and let us know of any needs or preferences you may have. This can be done by telephone or via a referral form.

Completion of provided Adult ADHD Self Report Scale questionnaire (ASRS), The Conners-4, the Conners 4 is a modern version of the Conners Rating Scales, which were originally developed by Dr. C. Keith Conners. These scales are used to help diagnose ADHD and evaluate its severity. The Conners 4 is specifically designed to be more relevant and accurate for both children and adults. The Sensory Processing Measure assessment tool will be sent via online link for completion (if there are difficulties with this, a member of the team can call to go through the assessment and answers) as well as the interoception awareness questionnaire for completion.

We will talk with you online to explore your experiences regarding attention, concentration, hyperactivity, executive functioning, relationships and organising and planning.

For face-to-face assessments, we will use the QB Test. The QB Test is a digital neuropsychological assessment that uses a combination of visual and auditory tasks to measure key behavioural characteristics that are often linked to ADHD. It’s often used in conjunction with other diagnostic tools, such as the Conners 4, clinical interviews, and self-report questionnaires. If preferred, the QB Test can be arranged to be conducted online.

Once all the assessments tools are complete, an MDT meeting will be held to review all the information gathered and analyse the results collectively. The information will be considered alongside the DSM-V diagnostic criteria to ensure a clinically robust diagnosis process.

You will receive a full, in-depth, clinically robust evaluation report. It will be important to take some time read, digest and carefully consider recommendations, at your own pace.
